Our Hands-on Training Approach

To address the needs of our varied client base, we’ve developed a unique training approach focused on “learning by performing”. Through exercises, simulations, feedback and group discussions, we can guarantee practical, relevant, interactive and enjoyable course content. Most importantly, participants can immediately apply their newly acquired NC post-processing skills upon returning to their job duties.

Training-Class

Standard Training

Experienced ICAM Instructors conduct all training courses with a limited number of 4 to 6 students per classroom. Each participant is given a complete set of training manuals for current and future reference. Training is offered online, or, on demand, at the ICAM Head Office in Montreal, Quebec or in our Tunisia support office.

Custom Developed Training

ICAM instructors work closely with each individual to identify their unique needs and objectives to develop a program that simulates real work related situations with “hands-on” training that is uniquely tailored to specific NC post-processing issues, concerns and work environment. In addition, on-site training courses can be scheduled at client corporate headquarters or manufacturing facility. Contact ICAM sales and service department for more information.

CAM-POST Advanced Training

This 3- to 5-day course is customized based on trainees’ availability and needs.  Prior to the class, trainees select the topics of interest from a list of available training modules and establish the class contents and agenda.  For example, modules 1 and 3, meant to review the Questionnaire and macro language fundamentals, can be skipped by customers who have recently attended a BTC.  This class is offered online, or, on demand, at the ICAM Head Office in Montreal, Quebec or in our Tunisia support office.

Below is a list of the available training modules that can be offered in this class.

Module 1: Review of the CAM-POST Questionnaire (optional)

  • This optional module is a refresher of ICAM’s development module, QUEST. It is intended for users who may have completed a BTC class in the past, but have forgotten the basic steps required for configuring a new post-processor.

Module 2: The LIMIT, LINTOL and VTLAXS Commands

  • This module explains some post-processor commands which play a critical role in the computation of motion data for multi-axes post-processors and can significantly impact the quality of the output.

Module 3: Review of the ICAM Macro Language Fundamentals (optional)

  • This optional module is another refresher intended for users who need to review the specifics of the ICAM macro language.

Module 4: Advanced Macro Techniques

  • This module consists in a set of exercises that require the use of macro techniques of a higher degree of difficulty. These include lookahead procedures, MRU (Most Recently Used) functions and regular expressions.

Module 5: Angular Heads and Tool Adapters (optional)

  • This optional module explains in detail the integration of two types of tool attachments: angular heads and angular tool adapters.

Module 6: Customizing the CAM Interface Kit

  • This module outlines the procedure for creating custom CAM interface kits adapted to specific needs.

Module 7: Mill-turn and Merging Lathe Post-Processors (optional)

  • This optional module explains the post-processor configuration for merging lathes (4-axes turning machines with two synchronized turrets) and for 3- to 12-axes mill-turns with one or two spindles and one or two synchronized turrets.

On-Site Consulting Services

*Note that all training courses are now Online

ICAM’s Consulting Services are often used as an alternative to formal ICAM training courses. These services are commonly required when difficult and very specific NC design and manufacturing issues arise.

On-site mentoring services provide users access to a vast NC manufacturing knowledge-base that can be directly applied to individual manufacturing environments. Implementing solutions to meet the most difficult NC manufacturing issues is what ICAM does best.

ICAM’s consultants will perform on-site evaluations of specific NC post-processors developed using CAM-POST. They will also perform detailed analyses focusing on the integration of specific CAD / CAM output files with each respective CNC machine tool. Subsequently, a report will be generated recommending specific modifications to improve existing post-processors.

Furthermore, ICAM’s experts will review any additional NC post-processing features and / or special manufacturing productivity options that may improve overall production.
